SHARPENING BASICS with Mattie Hinkley

In this class, students will learn the basics of sharpening flat blades, like chisels and plane irons, as well as card scrapers.

We will cover hollow grinding on a wheel, various abrasives like waterstones and oil stones, how to tune-up an old hand plane, and other tips for honing the perfect edge.

All skill levels welcome. No prerequisites. All you need is a computer and a good internet connection!

Mattie Hinkley is an artist, woodworker, and ceramicist born in Virginia, USA. She attended the Krenov School of Fine Woodworking intensive program for two years and earned her BFA in Craft + Material Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).  She currently lives in Chico, California.
