Panel discussion with A Workshop of Our Own (WOO, for short.) WOO, based in Baltimore, MD, is a supportive woodshop and educational space run by and for women and gender non-conforming craftspeople. We opened the doors in our 6400 sq ft woodshop in April 2017, with a mission to train and support people of underrepresented genders in the field of woodworking and furniture making. When the covid-19 pandemic hit, we temporarily closed the doors on our physical woodshop, and set to work refocusing our organization’s mission in the virtual sphere. In doing so we learned more about both our local Baltimore community and the community of women and gnc craftspeople all over the world.
No prerequisites for this panel. All you need is a computer and a good internet connection!
WOO is a non-profit safe space for training underrepresented genders in our field. As such, enrollment is limited to non-binary, trans, and woman-identifying folks over the age of 18.

Sarah Marriage, WOO's founder, is a maker of fine furniture and other wooden objects. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, Sarah studied architecture at Princeton University and fine woodworking at The College of the Redwoods (now The Krenov School). She has taught at The Krenov School, Penland School of Craft, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, and Anderson Ranch Arts Center. Sarah's work has shown at galleries and trade shows across the US, including Dwell on Design in Los Angeles, ICFF in New York, and Pritam & Eames Gallery in East Hampton, NY.
